MONTSOREAU

Overlooking the Loire, the Château de Montsoreau, made famous by the works of Alexandre Dumas, was built in the 15th century. Part residence, part fortress, the château originally took the form of a quadrilateral flanked by four pavilion-shaped towers and surrounded by a deep moat fed by the Loire. Following major restoration work, the château now features an animated show on the theme of the Loire.
